Stafford Thomas Jr.
Stafford Thomas is recognized as an exceptional leader - one who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Since 2011 Stafford has served as principal of Hillcrest Middle School in Trumbull, which, in 2018-2019 was honored as Connecticut Middle School of the Year by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS). Prior to his time in Trumbull, he served as an administrator in Mystic, Connecticut, and Barrington, Rhode Island. He began his career as a social studies teacher at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York. Mr. Thomas has also served as the Associate Director of Policy for the city of Providence, Rhode Island. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the graduate school of education at Sacred Heart University where he teaches courses in education law and finance and advanced curriculum. His professional associations include active membership in the Tri-State Consortium, an organization devoted to evaluating high performing school districts in the Tri-State area, and this coming school year, will serve as a member of the Board of Directors with CAS.
Stafford holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Georgetown University with a Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies from Brown University. Furthermore, he holds a dual degree in law (Juris Doctor) and Educational Administration (M.Ed.) from Boston College.
In his spare time Stafford like to travel, attend live sporting events (he has visited all 30 MLB parks and most SEC football stadiums), play tennis, and enjoy family dinners (especially BBQ) and vacations with his wife and three-year-old son..
