At Staples High School, there are more than 150 extracurricular offerings available, including clubs, athletics, music and theater. This space brings together key dates and steps to get more information to help you get involved into one place.

This resource is brand new and actively growing—we're continuously adding more information, dates, and details about how to get involved. Be sure to check back regularly for the latest updates!

If you can't find specific information about an activity or program you're interested in, don't hesitate to reach out directly to the department representatives or activity sponsors by locating them in the staff directory. They're always happy to help you get connected and answer any questions you might have.

 

Clubs

Staples offers a wide variety of clubs and activities. At the Involvement Fair, held the week of September 15, all students will have the opportunity to explore offerings. Students are encouraged to visit booths that will be set up outside the cafeteria during lunch waves for more information or to sign-up.

Music

Staples offers a vibrant music program with opportunities for all students.

Auditions for Orphenians (lpine@westportps.org), Jazz Ensembles (kmazzarella@westportps.org), and Chamber Orchestra (cmascaro@westportps.org) take place each spring for the following school year.

Students must be enrolled in a daytime ensemble to be eligible. If you’re a new student or missed the audition deadline, please contact the appropriate director—space may still be available. For more, visit our site.

The Music Department is planning a performance trip to Nashville, April 9–13, 2026, open to all students enrolled in ensembles. Interested families should contact their ensemble director for more details.

Theater

Staples Players is famous for producing some of the best student theatre in the country. The organization runs all year and is open to students of all experience and skill levels with opportunities as actors, technicians, and instrumentalists. The best way to get involved is to join the Staples Players Facebook group and Staples Players on ParentSquare for updates, as well as visiting the Staples Players website. Any other questions can be forwarded to shsplayers@westportps.org who will either answer your questions or connect you with a student officer!

Athletic Registration - Required

All student-athletes must register for athletic participation using FinalForms.  Registration for all three athletic seasons (fall, winter and spring) is now open and can be completed in one session.  You can revise your sport selections at any time before the respective season begins.

For our new families, please see the instructions for creating a FinalForms account.  For our returning families, you can continue to use your existing login credentials.

To finalize registration, please use this link and ensure the following steps are fully completed:

  • Student signatures
  • Parent signatures
  • Sport(s) selection
  • Physical exam uploaded (if necessary)
