Learning Support Centers


The Staples Learning Centers are designed to help meet the academic needs of students outside of class. These centers are staffed throughout the school day by Staples teachers and are available to ALL Staples students.

  • Math/Science Learning Center
  • English/Social Studies Writing Center
  • World Languages Learning Center
  • Information and Technology Literacy Center – SHS Library Media Center

The staff are available to help students:

  • Discuss problems from the previous night’s homework which caused difficulty
  • Get some help prior to a quiz or test
  • Consult a teacher about a project
  • Learn content missed because of absence from class
  • Have extended time to take a test
  • Get help with problems related to the CAPT, AP, or SAT tests,

Also available at Staples are our reading and writing intensive courses. Designed for students who need to more fully develop their skills in the areas of reading and writing. More information on these courses can be found in the Course Catalog, or contact your counselor.

Yesterday, Staples High School seniors participated in "Invest in Yourself," a comprehensive, day-long program designed to help students build practical skills as they prepare for life after high school. Through a Financial Reality Fair and a series of health and wellness workshops, the program gave students hands-on experience with the kinds of decisions they will soon face as young adults.

A team of students from Staples High School’s Financial Decision Making course earned second place at the Connecticut State Finals of the National Personal Finance Challenge, held March 31 at Synchrony in Stamford. The Staples team, consisting of seniors Justin Halky, Ford Epstein, Patricio Garcia, and Kai Schwartz, advanced to the state finals through earlier rounds of competition, demonstrating strong knowledge of personal finance concepts along with collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Staples High School proudly celebrated two exceptional seniors at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) 31st Annual High School Arts Banquet, held March 30 at the Aqua Turf Club. Representing the very best of Staples’ artistic community, Harry McLaughlin was recognized in Visual Arts, and Eva Slossberg was honored in Music & Theater.
