Art Educator Honored with State Award
Staples art teacher Carla Eichler has been named the Outstanding Art Educator by the Connecticut Art Education Association (CAEA). This prestigious statewide award recognizes her significant contributions to the field of art education and her commitment to fostering creativity and artistic growth among students. CAEA is Connecticut’s largest professional organization representing visual art and museum educators across all grade levels.

WWPT Named Top High School Radio Station in the Nation
In another outstanding honor, WWPT-FM, Staples High School’s student-run radio station, has been recognized as the Top High School Radio Station in the United States at the John Drury ’24–’25 High School Radio Awards, which took place in Chicago over the weekend.  Under the leadership of Mr. Mike Heiter, the program continues to set a national standard for creativity, professionalism, and teamwork. The student radio hosts and production team have demonstrated exceptional skill behind the microphone, producing engaging and innovative content that reflects the energy and spirit of the Staples community.

Athletic Excellence on the Course and the World Stage
The Staples boys cross country team finished second in the Class LL State Championship. Leading the pack was Oliver Samuel, who earned the individual first-place title, an outstanding accomplishment that highlights his hard work and perseverance.

Additionally, Natalie Chudowski, a standout Staples athlete, is currently representing the United States at the U-17 Women’s Soccer World Cup in Morocco, an extraordinary achievement that brings pride to her team, school, and community.

The Field House Reopens
The Field House is back and better than ever. We opened today with our new state-of-the-art floor, and classes are back in session!
