Dear SHS Families,

We are headed into the home stretch with just one month to go until our last day of school. The final exam schedule is now available here.

In school-wide shout outs, congratulations to our future D1, D2, and D3 athletes who celebrated their athletic and academic commitments at recent SHS collegiate signing days. A list of students who participated in recent school signing events can be found here


We are coming down to the wire, and would love your support, senior parents … if you haven’t already, please consider a donation to the Senior Carnival. The buzz is growing, the day will be magical, and ALL seniors are invited. Let’s show them an epic time!

Senior Carnival
June 6th is shaping up to be the best Thursday in the history of Thursdays. Can you guess what will make it so special? That’s right–the Senior Carnival is coming up, Thursday, 6/6! Striped tents + games + music + a shaved ice truck + delicious food + and bubble tea + MORE! Details are here. We’re nearing our financial goal to throw this epic party, so if you haven't donated already, we’d love your support.

Who else has the Footloose theme song in their head? No one? Anyway, the Senior Prom is Saturday, 6/1 from 7-11pm at the Greenwich Hyatt. Get on your dancing shoes, seniors!

Inklings Graduation Issue

From the Inklings team: Last call–submissions, payments and artwork are due Friday, 5/17. Give a shout out to a graduate, team or club on their Staples achievements with a message in the Inklings Graduation Issue, which will be handed out at graduation to all in attendance. Just 1) Click here to place your ad & 2) Write a check payable to Staples High School ($45 for text only, $100 for text & photo) and mail it to: Inklings News, 70 North Avenue, Westport, CT 06880. NO late submissions will be accepted. Don’t miss out!

Principal Coffee + Special Guest, Tom Scarice
Wednesday, 5/15 (@ 9:30am) is our final Principal Coffee/ General PTA Meeting of the year. We are thrilled to welcome Superintendent of Schools, Tom Scarice, who will discuss (among other district news) potential changes to the student-owned personal tech device policy. Please join us!

Don’t miss the Staples Music Annual Pops Concert on June 7th at the Levitt Pavilion. The lawn opens at 6pm, food trucks will be available to the public, and the concert begins at 7pm.

Westport Youth Commission
Is your teen looking for a summer job? The Westport Youth Commission is promoting QuadJobs, an online job platform, connecting Westport students to flexible, part time jobs. It is available for free to all Westport High School students and requires a school email address to make an account. Click here for more information and link to the website. 

SLOBs update
SLOBs next and final meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, 5/22 at 7:30pm (7:15 arrival) in the Staples cafeteria. They will announce their SuperSLOBs for each grade (most volunteer hours)! Many volunteer opportunities are available on Reach out to with questions.  

Staples Players Presents: Black Box presentation of the Psychological Thriller, TRAP
TRAP is many things and really the less you know going in, the more fun it is. It is part murder-mystery, part horror movie, part documentary. It examines the events that took place last year in Cutler, Maine, when 241 audience members fell unconscious during a high school production of a play titled TRAP. Presented May 23, 24, 25 at 7:30 and May 25 at 3:00. Tickets are available at

SDEIB Update
There is no doubt that both AAPI and Jewish American leaders have played and continue to play significant roles in the shaping of US history, society and culture. Did you know that William Tong, State Attorney General here in Connecticut, is the first Asian American to hold any statewide office? He was elected in 2006.   • Staples Sailing Car Wash: Let the Staples Varsity Sailing team get your car shipshape! While you’re there, rock out to the on-site DJ and stop by the bake sale. Suggested donation is $10/ car, and all proceeds support the team’s pursuit of new equipment. See you this Saturday, 5/18 at Kings Highway School, from 9am-12noon. Thanks for your support!
