CHINESE LANTERN FESTIVAL:
YEAR OF THE SHEEP

The Staples Chinese National Honor Society and The Chinese Language Program held a celebration of the Chinese New Year Lantern Festival to ring in the Year of the Sheep at the Westport Public Library.

Members of the Staples chapter of the National Chinese Honor Society hosted a luncheon for students in the Chinese program. Local parents helped to cook fresh dumplings and a full luncheon was served. After lunch, the students played games and won prizes in a raffle.

The general public was invited to the Great Hall at 1:30pm, where they made their own lanterns and took part in the Welcoming of Spring Parade, where a symbolic lantern was launched into the Saugatuck River.
