World Languages

 

A few notable achievements in World Languages for the 2022-23 school year: 216 graduating seniors received the Seal of Biliteracy, of those students 8 received the award in two languages; 131 juniors are eligible to receive the Seal of Biliteracy; 73 juniors were inducted into one of our six World Languages National Honor Societies.

Yesterday, Staples High School seniors participated in "Invest in Yourself," a comprehensive, day-long program designed to help students build practical skills as they prepare for life after high school. Through a Financial Reality Fair and a series of health and wellness workshops, the program gave students hands-on experience with the kinds of decisions they will soon face as young adults.

A team of students from Staples High School’s Financial Decision Making course earned second place at the Connecticut State Finals of the National Personal Finance Challenge, held March 31 at Synchrony in Stamford. The Staples team, consisting of seniors Justin Halky, Ford Epstein, Patricio Garcia, and Kai Schwartz, advanced to the state finals through earlier rounds of competition, demonstrating strong knowledge of personal finance concepts along with collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Staples High School proudly celebrated two exceptional seniors at the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) 31st Annual High School Arts Banquet, held March 30 at the Aqua Turf Club. Representing the very best of Staples’ artistic community, Harry McLaughlin was recognized in Visual Arts, and Eva Slossberg was honored in Music & Theater.
