All interested Staples High School students are invited to take part in the 2021 American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 10/12 program sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). The exam is a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examination in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills.
This year students will have a choice to register for one of two exam dates:
- Thursday, February 4, 2021, the exam on this date is in-person at Staples High School, it will start promptly at 8:00am.
- Wednesday, February 10, 2021, the exam on this date is online at home, provided a parent or guardian can serve as proctor.
Awards are given to high scoring students in each school. This exam is the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the prestigious Mathematical Olympiad in May.
Interested students should come to room 2055 (Assessment Center, Ms. Fucci) to register and pre-fill out the answer key (with name, address, etc.) prior to the exam day. Come by anytime from 7:30 am to 2:30pm.
