Requesting a Transcript and/or Recommendation
If you are applying to a summer program, it is possible that the institution(s) will require an official copy of your high school transcript and/or a recommendation from your teacher/school counselor as part of your application.
Per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, we cannot release a transcript or recommendation without the student’s consent and signature.
In order to have your transcript sent, submit only the Transcript Release Form to Mrs. Fugitt in the School Counseling Department office.
When making your request, allow at least one week for processing the transcript, plus mailing time. Please note that during very busy times of the year, it may take up to two weeks to process a transcript request.
If you have additional questions, please contact the School Counseling department office at 203-341-1225.
Two weeks before the first application deadline, see your teacher/school counselor in person to ask if they would be willing to write a recommendation for you. If so, complete a Teacher/School Counselor Summer Program Recommendation Request Form and provide it to the person you are asking to write a recommendation. For online submission, provide the necessary link to the teacher/school counselor. For submission by mail, it's the student's responsibility to provide the teacher/school counselor with a stamped envelope addressed to the program. The teacher/school counselor will submit the recommendation directly to the program.
List of Summer Programs
The College and Career Center has provided a list of summer programs as a courtesy to students and their families. The Westport Public Schools have not conducted any review or background checks of these programs. If students and their parents decide to pursue any of these opportunities, they should conduct their own review.
