For their group exhibit titled, The Immoral Origin and Immortal Legacy of HeLa Cells, Caroline Banks, Uma Choudhury, and Zara Saliba, Staples High School rising juniors, received an honorable mention in their judging room at the 2024 National History Day (NHD) competition.
Fulfilling their vision to ‘lend a hand,’ the Staples High School Enable 3D club expects to ship its first prosthetic hand in the coming months as a licensed chapter of Enabling the Future, an organization whose mission is to make free and low-cost prosthetic upper limb devices for people in need.
Cathy Dancz Schager, Contemporary World Studies teacher at Staples High School, has been recognized by her students as a U.S. Presidential Scholars most influential teacher and through the UConn Office of Early College Experience (ECE) Teacher Appreciation Campaign.
Exemplifying a commitment to fostering inclusivity and understanding, nearly 200 Staples High School students have been recognized for their commitment to achieving biliteracy in at least two languages.
