Athletic Director

Marty has been the Director of Athletics at Staples HS for 18 years, and he is in his 31 st year in education. He holds a 6th year in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, a Master of Education from the University of New England, and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Central Connecticut State University.

Marty began his career in Education in as a physical education teacher for the Simsbury Public Schools, where he also coached varsity soccer, varsity basketball and softball. During his tenure there his girl’s soccer teams at Simsbury HS won three state championships. He was named NSCAA National COY in 1989, CHSCA COY in 1992, and NHSCA COY in 2001. Marty was also inducted into the CT HS Girls Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame in 2002. Marty became the Athletic Director at Staples HS in 2000, where he now currently oversees a department of 36 varsity programs, 70 teams, and 120 coaches. The Staples HS program has been honored with the Michaels Cup from the CIAC as an outstanding athletic program 10 times during his time here.

Marty has been married for 23 years to his wife Donna. They have three daughters – Natasha, Taylor, and Alexa. They also are the proud parents of a Bernese Mountain Dog – Brody and a Golden Retriever – Rolex.
